Moffat departure

A sunny start to the day as we leave Moffat and start our long ascent.

Fondant fancies.

What a lovely sight at the top of the long climb. We now have 15 miles of descent to enjoy following the Tweed valley to Broughton.

Devil's Beef Tub

Hopefully you can read the history of the Beef Tub on the pictures :-). A short ride now and we shall meet the beautiful tea ladies and enjoy their fondant fancies.

Feeling sheepish

This is the focal point of the pretty market square in Moffat. Some of our party are feeling a little sheepish about the big climb up the Devil's Beeftub.

Fabby Moffat B&B

Here's a pic of the lovely Buchan House B&B that we have stayed in here in Moffat. Weather looks promising with sunshine breaking through the morning mist. After a full Scottish breakfast it'll be time to climb the Devil's Beeftub! That's 307m of climb over the first 5miles. Then onward to Edinburgh via the Tweed valley.

Beer in Moffat

The end of a pleasant day's ride - 72 miles from Penrith - and a well earned pint.

Scotland welcomes us!
