Crossing Aran by bike

The 4 of us enjoyed a spectacular ride from Brodick to Lochranza at the island's northern tip. Even Paul made it up the very long mountain pass. The views all around were stunning!

I trust you stopped off for a wee dram at the Lochranza distillery, Scotland's newest and smallest distillery. The whisky there is rather good - in fact if it wasn't 7.30 in the morning I would be tempted to have a small one now....!

Sadly, there was no time for a dram at the distillery - there was a ferry (and some ice creams) to catch a mile further on, so we whistled on by and down to the harbour.

Personally, I blame the faffing around earlier in the afternoon - see pictures above of postcard writing and of standing about posing for photos in front of impressive Arran scenery - behaviour typical of the first hour or so on the island ;-) Sometimes I found myself thinking it's a wonder they ever got mcuh beyond Penzance, given the occasional tendency to stop to take more photos than the average Japanese tourist).

And what's wrong with a wee dram at 07.30 to kick off a Friday. Never did Oliver Reed any harm. (really? - Ed.)
