For the second day in a row we had glorious afternon weather. Our crossing to Arran gave amazing views of the mountainous island.

Things I learned on Arran (MW, plse note spelling!) with Mark, Lex & Rich...
* Those luggage paniers are flippin' heavy and make riding a bike much harder - glad I didn't have any on my bike. Yet more respect to the team!
* Rich should be wearing the red polka dot jersey - King of the Mountains
* I was wrong - there IS a sandwich shop opposite the ferry terminal at Lochranza - and they sell delicious ice cream (made on the island)
* They have a cute mobile banking van on Arran provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland (in Miniature)
* It's much harder cycling on your own than it is cycling in a team (or was that cos I was knackered and sore?)
* The team are earning every penny of your sponsorship money!
Rich gets up the hills quicker because there's less of him. He's light as a feather and with his long gangly legs the perfect cyclist shape. Or he might just be a lot fitter than everybody else . . . I believe that he was only a short time off being in the elite category on the Fred Whitton ride this year. For those that don't know that's a 100 mile event taking in most of the big Lakeland passes.
Whereas Mark and I are 40 something and eat pasties or curry at every opportunity.
:-)
And I will of course be looking for volunteers to join me when I attempt to complete the ride myself . . . . Paul? Rob? Matt?!?
