Trough of Bowland and more.

After a late departure from Wheelton we headed North crossing the River Ribble at Ribchester. And then onward to Dunsop Bridge which is allegedly the exact centre of Great Britain. There's a commemorative phone box, Tea shop and perfect lunch spot next to the river where we were mobbed by ducks.

After a buttie we had a big climb out of the Trough towards Lancaster. See various pictures above. Lex's bike looks like a penny farthing!

Secondary lunch was taken in Kirby Lonsdale before whizzing over Devil's Bridge and onward towards the Howgills. We had the curious pleasure of cycling on a lane that runs in between the carriageways of the M6 before cresting Shap Fell and onwards to Bampton to be greeted by Alison (on bike).

88 miles completed today with a max speed of 47 mph! My bum hurts, my legs ache and I have sunburn where my watch strap would be.

Onward to Scotland tomorrow but not before dropping in to the local bike shop and having the local press appeal to take our pictures.
