John o' Groats

JOG is a rather tacky place but we had to go there and stand by the famous signpost, didn't we? It isn't the kind of end to a journey you would want, so good for us that we were aiming a little further north on our trip. It isn't even the most northerly point on the mainland - that award goes to Dunnet Head. JOG is just a tourist trap, really. And an anti-climax. Go to Dunnet Bay instead: it's beautiful!

Fantastic fantastic fantastic. Well done! It's such a brilliant achievement and you've raised an excellent amount of money by taking on this gruelling challenge.

Also, I think you've made us think about why you've done it, and about the very special people in whose name this has, in part, been done. There's no doubt that those who sadly aren't around to see it would have been immensely proud and honoured.

I'm sure all of us who have seen you take on this enormous challenge, while we have generally concluded that you are a little bit mad and more than a little masochistic, have been really really proud of you all.

So, I doff my hat in your general direction, raise a glass in your honour and wish you well on the journey back south (wot, no ferries?!).

And I'm looking forward to Aug/Sept to support the return of 'wounded knee'!!

Masochistic? I'll say...even 1000 miles of cycling wasn't punishment enough for some of you - did you really have to put yourselves through Bon Jovi as well?

But it turns out it's all rather inspiring (Bon Jovi aside). Well done, all four of you. Also, thanks for the blog, which allowed the rest of us to alternate feelings of admiration, envy and immense relief that it wasn't our legs that had to get that far.
